Pat Ferns is President and CEO of the Banff Television Foundation,
an international television and new media event management organization,
producing some of the world's leading television and new media industry
events. These include the annual Banff Television Festival, the
World Congress of Science Producers, the World Congress of History
Producers and the Alliance Atlantis Banff Television Executive Program.
Mr. Ferns has over 30 years experience in the television industry,
including 25 years as an independent producer, responsible for hundreds
of hours of award winning programming across many genre – from drama
to documentary, entertainment to the arts. Often referred to as
"the father of independent production in Canada" Mr. Ferns
has led many campaigns in the establishment of access and support
systems for his colleagues. As a pioneer of co-production, he conducts
his famous "Market Simulation" in various locations around
the world.
In 2000 the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television made Mr.
Ferns the fifth recipient of the prestigious Academy Achievement
award for "exceptional contribution to the Canadian Television
Industry."
