Loren Mawhinney to Chair BANFF Board of Directors
Trina McQueen to Chair BANFF Board of Governors
(Banff, Alberta, Canada, October 23, 2001) Pat Ferns, president
and CEO of the Banff Television Foundation, is pleased to announce
the election of Loren Mawhinney as the new chair of the Foundation's
Board of Directors. Ms. Mawhinney was officially elected to the
position on October 15, 2001 at the Foundation's annual general
meeting in Toronto. She replaces Trina McQueen who steps
down as chair after a three-year term. A special presentation was
made to Ms. McQueen for the outstanding contributions she has made
in support of the Foundation. Ms. McQueen now assumes the position
of chair of the Foundation's Board of Governors and remains a member
of the Board of Directors.
Also elected at the meeting were three new directors: Kathleen
McNair, vice-president, Corus Entertainment Inc.; Jean Merriman,
executive vice president, White Iron Pictures Inc.; and Harold
Tichenor, president, Crescent Entertainment Ltd. Stepping down
after valuable service to the Foundation are Derek Mazur,
president of Credo Entertainment Corporation; Mickey Rogers,
partner & head of releasing for Forefront Entertainment Group;
and Arthur Weinthal of Crescent Road Productions Limited
and now an honorary director of the Foundation. Mr. Weinthal has
served three years as chair of the Board of Directors and three
years as chair of the Board of Governors.

members and to our new chair, Loren Mawhinney all of whom have exceptional
knowledge and expertise in the television industry that will contribute
greatly to the Foundation," commented Mr. Ferns. "We also
send out our heartfelt thanks to Trina McQueen and the three directors
who have completed their terms. Their support and efforts over the
past years have been invaluable to the success of the Foundation
and its events."
Loren Mawhinney is vice president, Canadian production, at Global
Television Network responsible for the development of high quality
Canadian entertainment programming for both Global and the CH Services.
She has commissioned the renowned drama series Blue Murder,
Big Sound, Blackfly, Traders, Ready Or Not,
Outer Limits, Bob and Margaret and the reality series
Popstars. Ms. Mawhinney has served as a member of the Board
of Directors of the Banff Television Foundation for the past six
years.
Trina McQueen is president and chief operating officer of CTV Inc.,
Canada's largest private broadcaster. In this position, she is responsible
for the operations of the CTV Network, its 27 local stations, its
seven specialty channels and its seven digital networks as well
as its three production companies. Ms. McQueen has served as a member
of the Board of Directors for the past 13 years.
The Banff Television Foundation is a management organization for
