CyberPitch Format Plays Across Canada and Around the World
(Banff, Alberta, Canada, October 10, 2001) CyberPitch, the new
media pitching format created by the Banff Television Foundation
in partnership with the Banff Centre, will once again be a part
of the Baddeck International New Media Festival, in Baddeck, Nova
Scotia, October 10 - 13, 2001. The CyberPitch forum, "Pitching
for Partners, Profile and Profit" will take place on Saturday,
October 13 at 2:00 p.m. moderated by Pat Ferns, president and CEO
of the Banff Television Foundation. Sitting on the panel will be
David Traub of Epiphany Software and Andrew Cochran of Cochran Entertainment,
also a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
Originating at the Banff Television Festival, CyberPitch has become
a popular format that is now played around the world and at two
other Canadian festivals, in addition to Banff - Hot Docs in Toronto
and the Baddeck International New Media Festival. This forum provides
an opportunity for new media producers to pitch their projects to
a panel of industry experts and practitioners as well as an audience
of possible investors and funders. Prize money for all three official
CyberPitch forums in Canada is donated by the Bell Broadcast and
New Media Fund.
Four finalists have now been chosen to pitch at the Baddeck festival
and will be vying for $5,000 in development funding. They are: Big
Orbit Inc. (ON), Wow Canada!; Midnight Sparks Productions
(ON), My Roommate's Life; Landon Productions (NS), Graffiti:
Humanity Unedited; and Trapeze Media Ltd. (ON), White Noise.
In addition to CyberPitch at Baddeck, the Banff Television Foundation
is also partnering with the festival on a professional development
exchange that sees a staff member from each event travel to the
reciprocal event to assist and learn onsite. Judy Westcott, special
events assistant at the Foundation, is participating on behalf of
Banff.
The Banff Television Foundation is a management organization for
some of the world's leading television and new media industry events
including the Banff Television Festival (June 9 - 14, 2002), the
World Congress of History Producers (October 19 - 22, 2001), the
World Congress of Science Producers (October 25 - 28, 2001) and
the Alliance Atlantis Banff Television Executive Program (November
2 - 9, 2001 and January 11 - 18, 2002). Its mission is to inspire
innovation in content creation, celebrate excellence in programming
