Thirty Fellowships to BANFF 2001 are Awarded on Behalf of CTV
(Banff, Alberta, April 30, 2001) From across the country, 30 emerging
professionals in the Canadian television industry have been awarded
fellowships to attend the 22nd Banff Television Festival, thanks
to the generous support of CTV Inc. (An additional 10 fellowships
are awarded in support of francophone projects through Le Réseau
TVA Network.) The CTV Fellowship recipients are eagerly preparing
for what will be an inspirational, professionally rewarding, and
fun-filled week at the Festival, which takes place June 10 - 15
at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
A CTV Fellowship covers transportation and full registration to
the Banff Television Festival including admission to all public
seminars, workshops, screenings and social events. Recipients are
also treated to a special reception held in their honour introducing
them to the CTV team and to other key players in the television
industry.
Currently in its 13th year, the CTV Fellowship program has provided
hundreds of talented emerging producers, writers, directors and
other industry professionals the opportunity to enhance their careers
by bringing them to the Banff Television Festival. A review of Fellowship
alumni reveals an impressive list of distinguished professionals
whose awards and international sales span all program genres.
"The CTV Fellowship program fosters professional development
and creates opportunities for new and emerging talent in the Canadian
industry," said Pat Ferns, president and CEO of the Banff Television
Foundation. "We extend a sincere thanks to CTV for its continued
commitment and support in enriching the lives of so many recipients
both past and present."
BANFF 2001, the 22nd Banff Television Festival, takes place June
10 - 15 and features over 60 hours of workshops, plenary sessions,
keynote speakers, master classes, market simulations, and pitching
opportunities. As a special gathering place for television program
producers and on-line content creators it inspires innovation, celebrates
program excellence, and provides countless opportunities for networking
and deal making.

the plans presented to take advantage of the professional resources
available in BANFF, and the need for financial assistance to attend
the Festival.
