A separate entry form must be completed for each program entered. The entry form is available for download here (Adobe Acrobat PDF). The entry form may be photocopied. The handling fee of $250 per entry is payable upon submission of the program (payable by cheque, credit card, international money order or bank draft in either Canadian or US funds - to the order of BANFF TELEVISION FESTIVAL).For original, non-simulcast webcasts only, the handling fee is $100.

Handling fees are non-refundable and will be used to defray some of the costs of screening and judging entries. Customs clearance for the return of cassettes remains the responsibility of the entrant. All in-coming shipment charges must be pre- paid, and shipment may be by any preferred method. Please include photos and promotional material consisting of any or all of the following, reproduction-quality production stills or promotional photographs: 3 colour prints; 3 colour slides; 3 black and white prints; high resolution EPS scans on CD-ROM; promotional printed material (if available).

To the outside of the shipping container, you must attach the following information:

  • A description of the contents - listing in English and the original language (if other than English), the title of each entry enclosed and the number of cassettes for each entry enclosed.

  • The value of the contents.

  • A declaration that "the contents are not for sale - for temporary import only - to be returned to the sender or destroyed after the completion of the Banff Television Festival."

  • The following statement: "Attention Canada Customs - The Banff Television Festival may temporarily import video cassettes duty free under tariff item 9993.00.00 and non-taxable goods and services tax under the provision of Item 52 of the Schedule to the Temporary Importation (Excise Levies and Additional Duties) Regulations. No documentation, temporary admission permits or posting of security are required. per: Joyce Stacey, Trade Services Officer, Prairie Region, October 21, 1998."

Inform your shipper that the goods are to go IN BOND to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Entries will be insured from the time of delivery to the Festival to the time they are returned if return is requested. The greatest possible care will be taken to prevent loss or damage from occurring, but in the event of such mishaps, the obligation of Festival organizers is limited to simple replacement costs. Entries must be shipped PRE-PAID to the Festival and if return is requested will be returned by first class mail. An additional fee of $25 per entry will be charged for return shipments.

Please protect your cassettes. Do not use shipping envelopes padded with shredded paper. These envelopes have a tendency to burst in transit, and the fine particles of shredded paper find their way into the cassettes, hampering operation of both the cassettes and the playback machinery.

Note: We do not routinely acknowledge receipt of entry materials.
