Banff World Television Festival

The Banff World Television Festival is the world's most important television content creation event. 2008 will mark the 29th edition of this annual forum of business and creative opportunities for those in television and new media.

The 2008 Festival will take place June 8-11, 2008 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Conference Centre in the Canadian Rockies. Television professionals from around the world will partake in provocative seminars, inspiring Master Classes, unique pitching opportunities and more.

The Festival combines a prestigious international program competition, the Banff World Television Awards, with a comprehensive conference agenda. This marketplace of ideas generates co-production deals, enables new business relationships and brings to light future trends of the industry. As well as honouring excellence in international television, the Festival provides a global platform for industry members to network, discuss and debate, and to explore current issues and challenges.

Banff Television Festival Foundation

The mandate of the Banff Television Festival Foundation is to recognize, develop, celebrate and encourage excellence in television programming within Canada and around the world. This not-for-profit organization owns the Banff World Television Festival which is produced by Achilles Media Ltd. in conjunction with Foundation's Board of Directors. Funding for the Festival comes from a wide variety of sources in Canada and around the world and includes broadcasters, industry sponsors, public agencies, government, independent producers, and a host of other supporters.

Achilles Media is a management organization for the Banff World Television Festival, and also manages History Makers: International Summit of History and Current Affairs Producers (formerly The World Congress of History Producers) and nextMEDIA events. Achilles Media undertakes the organization of prime international events as well as training and development opportunities for content creators and other professionals in the television and new media industries.
